about LaN / contact
LaN DIRECTS GLOBAL WORKSHOPS ON DIGITAL DESIGN + FABRICATION IN ARCHITECTURE FOR ACADEMIC + CLIENT BASED PROJECTS.
LaN approaches architectural development through interdisciplinary collaborations enabled by DIGITAL DESIGN + FABRICATION. LaN recognizes the power of digital fabrication, not merely as a toolset of a high technical caliber, but as the driver of particular groupings of resources–an organization of human, economic, and material assets–varying widely based on project circumstances. LaN’s mode of operation is PARAMETRIC in nature, and seeks to re-associate architecture with a flexible, collaborative, & data-rich practice of SPATIAL DESIGN. >>
LaN Global Director // Monika Wittig // monika@livearchitecture.net
Monika currently explores the interdisciplinary collaborative potential of digital design + fabrication practices as co-director of LaN (Live Architecture Network). Most recently, she co-directed a graduate studio as a visiting scholar at Montana State University (Fall ‘08), and tutors internationally in workshops organized through LaN as well as by invitation. Monika studied at the IaaC (Institute for advanced architecture of Catalonia, Barcelona), AA (Architectural Association, London) & The University of Colorado. She has worked in the offices of ReD, OMA-NY (now REX). and in collaboration with Vicente Guallart Architects. She co-founded LaN in the fall of 2007 *authorized RHINO trainer
LaN Global Director // Luis Fraguada // luis@livearchitecture.net
Luis investigates critical issues in architecture, design, and urbanism through various modes, including parametric design, scripting, and fabrication. Luis pursued his masters degree in architecture and urbanism from the Architectural Association Design Research Laboratory (DRL) in London. A post-graduate degree in Digital Architectural Production at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) brought Luis to Barcelona, where he is currently based. Luis is active in both practice and academia as a tutor of ‘Design Scripting and Parametric Design at IAAC. *authorized RHINO trainer
LaN Port Director // Shane Salisbury // shane@livearchitecture.net
