If you are unfamiliar with Pecha Kucha Night (means "chit-chat" in Japanese), it was started in 2003 by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham as a forum for young designers and creatives to come together and discuss their work or anything else they are interested in presenting. Each presenter is allowed 20 images displayed for 20 seconds (for a total of 6m40s) in order to give everyone an equal chance to speak and to keep things interesting. Pecha Kucha Night takes place currently in 138 cities around the world and the list is growing.

The brief for the studio is Extreme Environments: WIND. The studio was given a series of sites that have naturally windy conditions throughout the year. In order to instrumentalize the information pertinent to each site, the first task is to design a device to measure the wind and other climactic conditions.

LaN members Luis Fraguada, Monika Wittig, and Shane Salisbury will be teaching the Visiting Scholars Studio at Montana State University this fall. The masters level studio, also coined "the gypsy studio" has been traditionally taught in 3 parts, by 3 different invited architects flown in from different parts of the country. This year, LaN has been invited to bring an common theme to those 3 positions while still passing along the knowledge we have acquired from our individual backgrounds.
