Filippo Moroni leads Solido 3d and Monolito Solutions in Rome. The two companies combine expertise in digital design and automated production using advanced technologies for prototyping, reverse engineering, additive fabrication, 5 axis CNC milling and 3d scanning. Filippo frequently collaborates with international designers & offices to produce highly custom fabrication solutions. Works produced by Solido have been exhibited in Milan International Furniture Fair annually since 2003. He routinely works closely with clients from an array of fields including set designers; architects (including Zaha Hadid Architects and Daniel Widrig); medical companies; product designers (Beeweeb, IBM, Crocs, Tetra Pak); automotive, boating and aircraft industries (Finmeccanica); The European Commission; and museums (The Science Museum of London).
Filippo has been invited on numerous occasions to co-teach workshops seeking to integrate digital modeling instruction with on-site digital fabrication. Routinely he contributes to workshops organized by LaN / live architecture network, L’Istituto Nazionale di Architettura, and Roma Tre University. With a continual interest in combining academic research with applied practice he is currently in mid-planning stages for a collaborative consortium ‘Fonderie Digitali’ to be housed in a Technical Institute in Central Rome to connect faculty and students with 9 creative/technical companies with an array of production equipment.
Filippo holds a Masters in Digital Prototyping from The Polytechnic Institute in Milan where he was awarded the Golden Compass (2004) among several other international design awards and an Industrial Design degree from ISIA – Rome.
